Art Saves Lives is a not-for-profit, Community Interest Company dedicated to finding space for any artist, writer or poet who feels, for whatever reason, they are marginalised by society and helping them to find and share their voice. The people at Art Saves Lives are passionate about raising awareness of the talents and passions that exist within the margins of society and since their conception in May 2009 have achieved exactly that...and more.
With achievements as diverse as winning a silver medal at the Chelsea Flower Show (for a garden cultivated to raise awareness of the plight of the homelessness) to performing short plays at The Camden Fringe Festival this is an organisation that, despite receiving no government funding, is setting the standard for the future of the social enterprise culture.
After spending their first couple of years in semi-nomadic existence, Art Saves Lives Directors Dean Stalham, Ryan Harding and Jaine Laine have now found somewhere that they can finally call home. The space is situated in New Cross Road, in the epicentre of the artistic revolution that is taking place in Deptford. The plan is to open and run their very own Theatre and Arts Space.
In an attempt to raise the money needed for this project - they need a mere £6,856.82 - they have launched the Art Saves Lives Appeal and are looking for social investors to support them. One hundred people who are willing to donate £68.56 is all that is needed, but in return EVERYONE will receive a portrait of their choice painted by renowned portrait artist David Hardy. What better excuse do you need to support your local community?
